Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb Small pasta shells or your favorite pasta shape
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 3 cups sharp white cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 cup Gruyere cheese shredded
  • 1 teaspoon dijon mustard or 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Cook the pasta according to package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Stir in the flour to create a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes until it forms a paste.
  • Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps.
  • Continue to cook and whisk until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Slowly add the shredded white cheddar and Gruyere cheese to the sauce. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  • Stir in mustard and garlic powder, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Add the cooked pasta to the cheese sauce, stirring to coat the pasta evenly.
  • Serve the creamy white cheddar mac 'n cheese hot.
