Sesame Soy Chicken

Sesame Soy Chicken

Course: Lunch, Dinner

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to your preferred level of spiciness)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced

  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

  • 2 cups cooked rice, for serving

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, grated ginger, minced garlic, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. This will be your soy glaze and marinade.

  2. Place the chicken breasts in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish.

  3. Pour half of the soy glaze over the chicken. Seal the bag or cover the dish and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for the best flavor.

  4. Reserve the other half of the soy glaze for later.

  5. Remove the chicken from the marinade and let any excess marinade drip off.

  6. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  7. Place the chicken breasts in the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes per side or until they are cooked through and have a nice golden-brown glaze.

  8. Reduce the heat to medium-low.

  9. Pour the reserved soy glaze over the chicken in the skillet.

  10. Continue to cook, occasionally spooning the glaze over the chicken, for an additional 2-3 minutes or until the glaze thickens and coats the chicken beautifully.

  11. Remove the chicken from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes.

  12. Slice the chicken into thin strips.

  13. Arrange your sesame soy chicken over a bed of rice then drizzle any remaining glaze from the skillet over the chicken.

  14. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
