  • 1/2 tablespoon dried thyme

  • 1/2 tablespoon dried oregano

  • 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 tablespoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

The Spicy Mayonnaise:

  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise

  • 2 teaspoons lime juice

  • 1-2 teaspoons hot sauce (adjust to taste)

For the Pickled Onions:

  • 1 medium red onion, thinly sliced

  • 1/2 cup white vinegar (or apple cider vinegar for a milder flavor)

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon salt

The Tostadas:

  • 6-8 tostada shells

  • 2 avocados, mashed

  • Pickled onions

  • Salt, to taste

  • Drizzle of spicy mayonnaise

  • Cilantro, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Peel and thinly slice the red onion into rings or half-moons. Place the slices in a clean glass jar or bowl.

  2. In a small saucepan, combine the vinegar, water, sugar, and salt.

  3. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar and salt dissolve (about 2-3 minutes).

  4. Pour the hot brine over the sliced onions, ensuring they are fully submerged.

  5. Let the mixture sit at room temperature for 20 minutes to cool and pickle.

  6. In a bowl, toss the salmon with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), thyme, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.

  7. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).

  8. Spray the air-fryer basket with cooking spray and cook for 8-10 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through.

  9. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, lime juice, and hot sauce. Mix well to combine.

  10. To assemble the tostadas, spread a layer mashed avocado onto each tostada shell and sprinkle with salt, to taste.

  11. Spoon the air-fried salmon over the avocado, followed by the pickled red onions.

  12. Drizzle with spicy mayonnaise then garnish with fresh cilantro.

  13. Serve the Blackened Salmon Tostadas immediately and enjoy!
